(I'm so) Happy Friday!

The sun has been shining and radiating warmth for over a week now. It's just glorious! We've been trying to spend as much time outside as possible.

We moved the Jolly Jumper outside while we barbecued dinner, much to Ember's delight.

The forecast holds more of the same summer beauty for this weekend. I wonder what adventures wait for us... Have a grand weekend everyone!

Ember is sick for the first time. She woke up at 6 this morning with a stuffed up nose and a grumbling, hungry tummy. When she tried to latch on to eat, she started to cry because she couldn't breathe. It was obvious she was a little scared, very hungry and exhausted. While Andrew and I were consoling her through her small meltdown, she smiled at us through her tears. I love her spirit so much! Honestly, I can't help but be impressed by her. She doesn't even know how to sniffle and she's handling this cold like a champ.

After a few good sneezes, enough blockage was cleared that was able to eat. She latched on, nursed to sleep and dozed for another three hours. Waking up at 9:30, she was breathing (almost) clearly through her nose and was fever free!

Here's why:

Ember is blossoming into a smart, independent and charismatic little girl right before our eyes. It's incredible how as the calendar pages turn over, we get to see more of Ember's personality. I truly love who my little girl is growing into. She now plays alone for up to 40 minutes at a time, chatting happily away with her dolls, and bouncing in her exersaucer which allows me time to get dinner ready and tidy around the condo.

Andrew and I have been reading to Ember since day one, and she has always responded. Now, however, she very clearly has favourites and bounces up and down with a gigantic smile on her face while I read 'Knuffle Bunny' by Mo Willems. She reaches for books and really studies the pictures with her eyes and fingers. It's amazing to watch her discover the world. I truly love being her mum!

(I'm so) Happy Friday!!

Here's why:

- More of Ember's personality and character have emerged this week. Some highlights are below.

- On Monday, she decided she loves to talk. All day, everyday now she chatters away. I'm sure I will live to regret this, but I love her voice and hearing her stories.

- Meeting people as of late, Ember has been shy. When in my arms she now swings her head around to the shoulder furthest away from the stranger and nuzzles in. It's amazing to feel like her safe place.

- During storytime, she oooohs and aaaahs and reaches her hand up and hangs onto my bottom lip, all with a huge smile on her face.

- 'Head and Shoulders' (the song, not the shampoo) and the alphabet are new favourites. As is, singing "Raise a Little Hell" by Trooper while hoisting her in the air. The latter produces giggles.

- Andrew has a three day weekend!! Planned is a walk in the River Valley, watching rugby with Grampa, and some shopping ! Not to mention, lying in as a family and pancakes for brunch.

Here's why:

- Ember slept through the night last night ... in our bed but I don't care because I got 7 straight hours of sleep.
- the Olympics start today. For the next two weeks, I will be on my couch, glued to the TV.
- we're having sushi for dinner, yum.
- life is good (see below).

Instead of the tongue sticking straight out, it now curls around her upper lip. Talented girl!
