This little piggy went to market.
This little piggy stayed home.
This little piggy had roast beef.
This little piggy had none.
And, this little piggy went wee, wee, wee, wee, all the way home.
Does it strike anyone else as odd that a little piggy would eat roast beef? A fellow barnyard animal? Well I thought it very strange indeed. So I changed the words. In our house, the rhyme goes like this:
This little piggy went to market.
This little piggy stayed home.
This little piggy had ROOT BEER.
This little piggy had none.
And, this little piggy went wee, wee, wee, wee, all the way home.
While I don't think that little piggies would actually drink root beer, I find it a lot more comfortable to imagine.

Our change to the rhyme came from the direction of fairness; why would one little piggie go hungry? So this little piggie had roast beef and this little piggie had turkey and they BOTH went wee wee wee. I think we can all just ignore why the first one was going to market......
ReplyDeleteYeah, a pig goes shopping, fair enough. And I respect your position to feed both piggies. It didn't occur to me to be concerned about the fourth little piggy. Poor little fella. I may have to make another amendment to the rhyme...
